This week’s best kept secret is that you are worth celebrating, right here, right now, before anyone knows your name or what you’ve been called to do, and we’re going to talk about it today.
Most of us only focus on the first part of Zechariah 4:10 when we’re encouraging ourselves about the little things that we begin, but I actually think the second and third part of the verse is even better than the first! It tells us: “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand. (The seven lamps represent the eyes of the LORD that search all around the world.).”
I don’t know about you, but when I celebrate, I throw a whole party-all by myself. Can you imagine our Daddy God doing the same thing? He’s not a disapproving figure in the sky waiting to condemn you. He is a joyful, loving Father who loves His children and celebrates us better than anyone.
Now, I’d gotten that second part, but I have to share that whenever I came to the third part, I simply laughed it off and said, “Now, I don’t know what that last part about Zerubbabel means, but it doesn’t matter,” until this year! Holy Spirit brought that part of the scripture alive in my life this year, and I’m so grateful! You see, Zerubbabel was the ruler of Israel that led the chosen people back into Jerusalem to rebuild the temple and you can read about it in the book of Ezra.
So what was the big deal?
Y’all!!! When the older people saw that the foundation was much smaller than Solomon’s temple had been, they balled their eyes out, and the Lord had to send the prophet Haggai to tell them that He was pleased with Zerubbabel. It may not have been what they expected or what they wanted, but He was pleased.
Sis, God is pleased with you! He’s pleased with your choice to start dreaming again. He’s pleased with your choice to begin to strategize that event. He’s pleased with your choice to open up your heart again. He’s pleased with you!!!
Don’t let anyone’s contempt steal your reason to celebrate!
Don’t let anyone’s sorrow deter you from praising God with everything in You because it’s that praise that’s going to bless them, as well. Don’t let anyone’s disappointments influence your joy. Hold on to it, and lock your eyes with Jesus’. He is here for you! He has always been here for you, and He will always be here for you! Sis, if you don’t read anything else. Read this line: He is enough.
But, before we go, I’ve included a few questions for you to think about, too.
- When was the last time you celebrated anything, big or small?
- How do you enjoy celebrating yourself?
- What will you plan to celebrate this week
