There were so many reasons not to do it, but, to be honest, that’s my life. Literally. It might be yours, too.
There were so many reasons not to host Unconditional 2021. I actually love to read my Bible and just enjoy being. It’s my favorite thing. However, God wouldn’t let me sleep. 💤 He’s always giving me a new idea, and I’m bold enough to believe that He wants to use me to make it happen. That being said, we’re still navigating a global pandemic, facing shut downs everywhere, and dealing with so much distraction, it’s hard enough to capture anyone’s attention long enough to tell them about it.
Doesn’t matter how much I think about that, though. One question (or, I guess, three) always comes back to me…
What if this is the new normal? Are you just going to quit or are you going to keep moving forward? I think you have something this world needs right now, so get to it.
There were so many reasons not to record the series I hosted for A Colorfully Candid Guide to Christian Events, but it seemed as if God were answering every question that arose to my heart as quickly as they came.
Who’s planning to host a Christian event right now, during a pandemic?
Does it seem insensitive to keep moving forward, attempting to encourage people to follow those God given goals when there’s so much pain in the world right now?
Nope. Remember the verse I gave you to restore your life? You shall live and not die.
Am I really the right person for this? That last event wasn’t easy on me. In fact, it was downright hard to come back from.
What’s that thing you always say? It’s not about you?! It’s time to take your own advice.
So I did it, and it was actually really fun!
The best part was…
Two different people messaged me personally to share that God had answered a few of their own questions in the event planning process they’re currently developing through my videos. Thank You, Jesus, for partnering with me and requiring me to partner with You.
So, here I am again. This time: publishing a new podcast.
There are a million reasons not too, even though I can only think of three.
Give me a minute. LOL. For starters, the name God had given me for my podcast over 15 months ago had already been published by others-a lot. Then, I began to think about how incredibly saturated the field is. Who knows who will actually find mine and enjoy it? Finally, Clubhouse came to mind. There are other ways to get my point across-without creating anything new. YouTube and candidliv.com are just two more outlets that I was already working to develop.
But He wouldn’t let me sleep.
I know you have a lot of excuses that you can use to hold you back. We all do. The truth is, there may be a ton of reasons not to do something, but all you need is one reason to do it. Trash the excuses, the worries, and the concerns about whether it’s going to reach others and prove to be effective, and go for it for the one.
The real question is…
What if that thing you’ve been pondering and procrastinating over is your Matthew 18:12 mission? You know Matthew 18:12, “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?”
Trust me, going after the one will bless your soul every time. Publishing The Best Kept Secret has been one of the most exhilarating things I’ve ever done…and that’s saying a lot.
