Rediscovering Worth: Lessons from One Year in Business

Rediscovering Worth: Lessons from One Year in Business

It’s been one year since I officially went into business, and it’s been mind boggling. Seriously. I don’t know that I’ve ever cried more in one year than I did this year. I’ve wored harded than I ever have before in my life and it’s difficult to process because I don’t know how much I have to show for it when I look back…if you’re measuring value in the traditional sense by the things you can see. I measure the value I add through the money that I make. I always have. Until this year. You see, I’ve worked, on average, a minimum of two jobs for most of my life since I was fifteen years old. This past year, I worked harder than I’ve ever worked and I don’t have a salary to show for it. My instagram followers haven’t grown tremendously and my schedule is overflowing with busyness that I’m not sure is productive at times. Everything that I’ve ever used to quantify success or been told to use to quantify success has all but failed me.

Does any of this sound familiar or is it just me? It’s okay if it is. This entire year has been spent learning one lesson: we are worth more than precious jewels, Instagram followers, money in the bank, and new accessories on our fingers and feet. I am here to liberate you from the mindset that your worth is caught up in the things you can see with your eyes! We are worth every smile that we’ve put on someone’s face. We are worth every compliment we’ve shared to encourage others. We are worth the love that we’ve shared with all of those whom we’ve transformed our entire lives, professions, and dreams for. We are worth more. More than the money in our pockets or the people who claim to be our friends. We are worth more than we can even imagine. Get it into your spirit and breathe Sis. You are incredible and your contribution to the world is priceless!

I love you all!
